THE BRAIN Pop-up

Immersive theatre surrounds the audience, blurring the lines between performer and spectator. Instead of passively observing performances on a stage, audiences have opportunities to interact with performers, environments, and become fully immersed in the story's world.

Tethered is Erie's original immersive theatrical experience. Our productions feature collaborations between artists and community partners to create thought-provoking performances while raising the bar for unique entertainment. A combination of dance, theater, music, film, and visual arts to create an emotional and unforgettable journey that audiences experience at their own pace.

In February 2024, Tethered partnered with PACA and SafeNet to debut Erie’s first immersive theatrical experience. The show featured 30 performers spread across 5 floors of the historic Meyer building. Over 350 people attended the 2-night show. In September 2024, Tethered partnered with Seiche Dance Collective to create a pop-up performance at FEED Media Art Center to launch a Kickstarter campaign for our 2025 flagship event.

In June 2025, Tethered partnered with Room 33 and Penny & Pearl Productions for REWIND, a 90’s themed pop-up. In September 2025, Tethered partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to produce a primarily non-verbal, movement-focused experience about memory & consciousness. This 4-night immersive theatrical experience took place in the 36,000 sq ft former Erie Maennerchor building.

In October 2026, we will release two interconnected experiences: The Lever and Seized. For The Lever, we are partnering with Erie’s Black Wall Street, on an 8-night immersive theater production about class, corruption and collective power. Seized will be an audio drama participants will listen to through headphones as they walk the same downtown Erie route as a Nepali character from our live show, The Lever.
